Sales and Service Tax (SST)
Malaysia’s SST is administered by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and has two parts. Sales tax is charged on taxable goods made in or imported into Malaysia, mostly at 10% or 5%. Service tax is charged on taxable services, mostly at 8%, with 6% for some services such as food and beverage.
BillDoodle sets up a Malaysian invoice for you: amounts in ringgit (MYR), dates as DD/MM/YYYY, an A4 PDF, sales and service tax presets, and the total in words.
What to put on your invoice
- Your business name, address and SST registration number if registered
- Your Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- The customer’s name and address
- The invoice date and a serial number
- A description, quantity and price of each item, with tariff codes for goods where relevant
- The sales or service tax rate and amount, and the total payable
e-Invoicing (MyInvois)
LHDN has been phasing in e-invoicing through MyInvois since 2024, by annual turnover, with the smallest businesses exempt. Businesses in scope must issue invoices through MyInvois or an approved system. BillDoodle creates PDF documents only, so check LHDN’s latest guidance to see whether e-invoicing applies to you.
