GST invoices in Singapore
Singapore’s Goods and Services Tax is administered by IRAS. The rate has been 9% since 1 January 2024. Businesses must register for GST when their taxable turnover exceeds S$1 million a year, and can register voluntarily below that.
BillDoodle sets up a Singapore invoice for you: amounts in Singapore dollars (SGD), dates as DD/MM/YYYY, an A4 PDF, and presets for 9% GST, zero-rated supplies and businesses that aren’t registered.
What to put on a GST tax invoice
- The words “Tax Invoice” – choose Tax Invoice as the document type
- Your name, address and GST registration number
- The customer’s name and address
- An identifying invoice number and the invoice date
- A description of the goods or services
- The amount excluding GST, the GST rate and amount, and the total including GST
For sales of S$1,000 or less (including GST), a simplified tax invoice is allowed. If you are not GST-registered, issue a normal invoice and don’t show GST. IRAS is also rolling out InvoiceNow e-invoicing for GST-registered businesses in phases; BillDoodle creates PDF documents only.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be GST-registered to send an invoice?
No. Anyone can issue an invoice. Only GST-registered businesses may charge GST and issue tax invoices.
Can I invoice overseas clients in US dollars?
Yes. Pick USD from the Currency menu. International services may be zero-rated; choose “Zero-rated – GST 0%” if that applies.
Should prices include GST?
Prices shown to consumers in Singapore must include GST. On B2B invoices it’s common to show the amount before GST, the GST and the total separately, as BillDoodle does.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can create and download as many documents as you like without paying and without creating an account.
Where is my data stored?
Everything you type stays in your own browser. Drafts and your history are saved locally on this device, so nothing is uploaded to our servers.
